I recently replaced the belt on my Pioneer CLD D701 with a thicker belt. It was operating smoothly until it came to eject the tray. The tray wouldn't fully eject, ejecting partially and going in and out by a few inches. Once I pulled the tray by hand, the main cam gear wouldn't turn, making a noise like a construction crew was drilling in the street.

I dismantled the loading mechanism, and I followed the section of the service manual that covers the loading mechanism. I believe the switches are all in the right places as when I just have the main cam and the spring slanting cam in the unit I can manually move them and it will load/unload. If I don't manually move the main cam or the spring slanting cam it seems to get stuck. Any idea what is going on? Could a gear be chipped?
