Hi, I need help with my Pioneer cld-950 player.

Description of the problem - After turning it on, the LD mechanism slides out, but when I want to close it, it doesn't close, the motor only turns, the rubber band is clearly slipping.

I've already read something about it, and in my opinion it should be the rubber band that is too loose, I've already bought a new rubber band.

My question - Is the rubber band really bad if the LD mechanism slides out but doesn't slide in? I would expect that if the rubber band is loose, the mechanism won't slide out. Could it be something else?

I was looking for a sensor that would determine whether the LD mechanism is closed or open. Is there such a sensor?

Thank you for your advice.

It's feasible, but it sounds a bit backwards; you'd think when the belt starts to go that bad, the tray closes but won't open.

Before I got a replacement belt, I actually just tested it with a rubber band. It was way too small so the motor had to work extra hard to go through the motions, but it did work and that's how I knew I just needed a new belt.

The belt is so twisted. It doesn't really close, it just opens. I just turn on the player, and the LD mechanism comes out, but when I press the close button, it doesn't close.

I replaced the rubber band today, but it still won't close.

I also noticed that the gears that move the LD mechanism turn in the same direction when opening and closing. Is there a sensor that detects whether the mechanism is open or closed?

Have you tried closing it manually?

With the tray out, player unplugged and the cover off, you can just rotate the pulley with a fingertip, unless you've got giant sausage fingers.

Yes, I've already tried that, but when I turn it on, the mechanism opens but cannot be closed (by pressing the button).

Just making sure, did you move the pulley all the way? It does a bunch of other stuff after the tray is closed as well.

If you mean I turned the pulley until the LD mechanism closed completely, then yes, then I turned the player back on and the LD mechanism came out, but it didn't close.

You have to push the cam plate next to the two gears away from the gears when the tray is removed from the player for the unit to perform the close process. If the pin on the top of the cam plate is broke off then the load will not complete when the tray is installed.

You should have started with if the tray does go all the way in and you hear a motor stressing then you need to grab hold of the mechanical assembly and lift up on it to help the load complete. If this makes it complete you need a load belt.

If none of this helps there are switches on the bottom below the cam gear that signal the mechanism position.
