Title says it all - picked up a cosmetically nice CLD-D703 and after a loading belt replacement, units spins up just fine. However, for both sides A and B, unit will play for 10 seconds or so and then skip back 6-8 seconds. Happens anywhere on the disc. Maybe out of alignment? I also cleaned the laser FYI. How to fix? Thanks in advance.

Most likely need to replace the movement motor package on the back of the pickup. If could be the drive IC but I've had movement motors that fail the smaller steps that needed replacement.

Got it - I have a unit I have been using for parts that has a healthy pickup. Are those tough to swap out?

If you take the black housing with the gears and swap them between the units and reinstall the same pickup then you could avoid the need to re-calibrate/align the unit.
