Last night, my Pioneer CLD-D504 LaserDisc player suddenly stopped ejecting. Instead, I got slapped in the face with an "E3" error, and now it won't do anything when I try to press play or eject, leaving the last disc I put in it last night to now be stuck in the player. Is there anyone who can help me on this issue? :?

The likely issue is that the m-holder (motor holder) that keeps all the gears together on the laser assembly has broken pins which is a common issue with the Epsilon Turn players.

You can test this by opening up the player and observing how the laser moves under its own power or move it by hand (power unplugged) and notice if the gears are bouncing.

The good news is that a laser printed replacement has been available for quite some time now to alleviate a parts shortage for the OEM version and it’s also more durable than the original.

Why would you say it’s more durable than the original? None of the replacement parts have existed for as long as the originals did (decades) before those started to fail.

Regardless: the bad news is you’ll probably need an alignment after replacing this part and there’s probably nobody within 100 miles that can do it.

I should have clarified in the previous post.

There were two motor holders with VNL-1637 being the older version that was verified to be more brittle. This is the one usually found in a 504, 604, 59, and others that were 1st / 2nd year Epsilon players.

As for adjustments, shouldn’t need anything done assuming this is truly the only issue.
