Has anyone successfully used a CU-CLD048 on a Pioneer CLD-950, specifically for CAV jog/shuttle and frame stepping?

I have not but I am confident that it will work with those step buttons.

I would be more concerned about finding a remote w/ a “D/A CX” button so you can switch between digital and analog tracks (assuming the “Audio” button won’t do every combination of audio selection on the CU-CLD048).

Thanks for the quick reply, I really appreciate it!

I actually checked a photo of the CU-CLD048 again and noticed it does have a dedicated D/A CX button, so fortunately that doesn’t seem to be an issue after all.

In the meantime I’ve expanded my search quite a bit. Besides the CU-CLD048 I’m now also looking at the CU-CLD082 (from the CLD-1850), the CU-CLD097 (CLD-2950) and the CU-CLD098 (CLD-959 / CLD-D703/D704), as all of them offer jog/shuttle control.

Have you ever come across anyone using any of those remotes with a CLD-950? I’m trying to find the best possible jog/shuttle remote for the player, since the original CU-CLD095 only came with the basic remote.

Sorry about that confusion. My search for an image of that remote lead me astray.

In general, most Pioneer remotes will work interchangeably with any model from the mid 80’s to the last generation of players (except DVL) as Pioneer never went berserk about changing codes.

The only thing to be aware of are specific commands that were altered like the before mentioned “audio” button where three functions were combined into one (D/A, CX, and Audio Monitor).

The only other command change was the “open/close” and “eject/stop” button (the 950 uses the latter).

So you should be good w/ the 48 which is still more feature packed over the stock unit. Don’t bother getting a 98 or other remote with a jog/shuttle as the jog wheel only works with players that have digital field memory.

Do the jog wheels not work on Standard Play discs on non-digital-memory players? I would think that the wheel's signals are potentially the same as hitting the Frame+ and Frame- buttons at various speeds (but this is just a guess).

I do see that dzubiel specifically mentioned CAV disc functionality.

I'm quite sure they don't but it wouldn't hurt testing it just in case .

I'll see what happens when I try a CLD-D701 remote with my CLD-52 player tomorrow and report back.

I guess one day turns in to five days

So I did test a remote for a CLD-D701 on a CLD-52 and sure enough the job wheel did nothing to produce any frame by frame commands on a CAV disc.
