Hey everyone! New member here and first time posting. Just purchased a Pioneer CLD 3080. The seller says that the machine won't playback LaserDiscs. Is this an easy fix?

That could be a bunch things from a bad ribbon cable to a bad door switch to defective optics. Tough to say without some testing

is that the one you just bought on the bay for 35 bucks?
did you have to pay shipping or did you pick it up?
i would have LDservice/duncan or kabahr fix it if you want to have the player up and running.

that is if you can't fix it.

A bit more detail would be useful. What specifically happens when an attempt is made to play an LD?

Believe it or not, I got the machine today, and it works perfectly! It doesn't seem to exhibit any of the problems that he described. Also, the machine is immaculate as well! Looks like its brand new! Even the manual looks like it was never opened. Just out of curiousity, incase I don't want this machine, how much do these things go for in mint condition? That also depends on whether I wanna give up this machine. :)

it is an older player, i believe rixrex had the CLD-3070 for 50 bucks or so.

so if you sell it to the right person you may get a little more for yours.
also depends on shipping, i alway take that cost into the total cost of the item that i buy.

rein-o, I looked on the Pioneer parts page, and both the 3080/95/97 share the same mechanics. In some aspects, the 3080 looks similar to my 97 as well. I mean, the 97 is also an old machine if you think about it. Someone could always use parts to rebuild another 3080/95/97.

An update. Been testing the player some more and occassionaly it exhibits this problem. When I insert a disc into the machine, the player locks up, and refuses command of both the play, open, Side A, and Side B buttons. Even sometimes if I start to play with the door problem, the tray mounts to play, but then aborts and goes back into stop mode. However, I've noticed the flip down door isn't completely flush on the upper right side. Pushing it in for seems to solve the problem. Now, what is causing this annoying problem and what can I do to fix it? Also, the player works fine other than that, it plays great, fast forwards and rewinds great, and even flips from Side A to Side B perfectly as well. So, is this a simple fix?

Update, the player will not play CDs either. It recognizes them, but sounds like its trying to spin but keeps on struggling. Any ideas?
