Post subject: [CLD-1750] On my Toshiba LCD Posted: 12 Nov 2012, 11:58 |

Hi there,
I bought my first Laserdisc player this week - a Pioneer CLD-1750. I am playing laserdiscs connected to my Toshiba LCD TV and the picture keeps cutting out intermittently. A second later it's back on, plays for about a minute and then cuts out again for a second. I don't know if this is a limitation of the TV (Model no : 40CV550A) or issue with the player. The only thing I can figure is that when the picture comes back on, it shows 50 hz in the upper right hand corner and sometimes it's 60 hz - depending on the laserdisc title. Any advice would be appreciated as I really don't know much about laserdisc players. Thanks.

Thanks for the reply - I can't find such a setting on my TV. However, I just found something - There is a button called 'system' on the Laserdisc player. I pressed it and it switched between PAL and NTSC. The picture stays constant. The colour is a bit washed out, but it's staying.

I'd have to agree with this theory. I've had this happen to me before when a disc has had a mark on it or it was warped. Does it happen on all discs? Also, when it happens check the LCD display of the player - does the time continue to run or does it get stuck? Another more depressing point is that it could simply be that the player is old and the laser is weak/needs alignment or something. Good luck!
