Hi, I just got a Pioneer CLD-2080 LD player but it doesn't have a remote and I'm having trouble finding remotes for it online. What type of remotes work with this player and where can I find them? Thanks in advance!

really don't know, most should work the main functions but to get the right one you'll have to keep an eye out
for ones on ebay to see the correct model.
i have 3 different remotes that work on my player, but i didn't buy any of them, they came with broken players.
or mabey that means i did buy them

See this post?
Most Pioneer remotes are interchangeable, to tell the truth. Judging from this picture, the CU-CLD029, which is the correct unit, is one of the small generic ones, not one with a jog/shuttle dial or the like, so you should be pretty well safe.

Let me look, and I will get back with you

The 2080 remote is the CU-CLD029 but really all you need to know is if your unit needs the +10 button for jumping chapters or not. The ones that don't heed it (older players) require you to input the chapter number and then they have a search button. Otherwise the only differences are the features that are available on the remote.

Kurtis, do you know what player the CU-CLD122 remote originally went with? That's the Pioneer remote model number under the TheaterVision overlay and I just wonder what player it's from. It isn't the model number of the remote that came with the CLD-99, which I think is odd considering the TheaterVision is a CLD-99.

Is the underlay gold? What research I did shows a gold remote. It would be for an LD/CD player (CLD). Was there a "gold" CLD-99????

Yes, the underlay is gold, although the remote is silver, as you know. It could very well be the CLD-D99 - I wonder why EAD used a Japanese remote? If I could get the overlay off without ruining it, I'd see if it had Japanese on the buttons at all. But the overlay is a thick plastic that 'crimps' when being removed and wouldn't lay flat again. Unlike Theta that just stuck whole Magnavox players in the 'shell', front panel and all, EAD got the 99 from Pioneer sans front panels or top bonnet. So I wonder if some were CLD-D99's, since it's the same player? I wonder if there is any way to activate the LD-G function - I assume it's there, in the IC's, just unactivated for US players.

Maybe that's why those got a different 3dfilter like you mentioned too,

Sounds like were digging for Gold and Truth, The Whole Truth and nothing else

I know for a fact Circuitman sold a few of those gold D99's in the past and probably has the model# of the remote.

That's Greg, right? If so, that's who I got my EAD from.

The CLD-79, 99, D99 all use the same remote with a different colored overlay. The S9 and X9 added a couple new buttons but the DNR buttons are the same. The DNR operation is the same from the remote standpoint, it is just the menu's that differ. If you want to get picky the base video board is lay'd out so that it can be populated to be the 99, D99, S9 video board. The remote bodies for the D99 and S9 are champagne just like the unit.

If you find any, I'm interested, at a reasonable price, that is. Thanks in advance!

I know that I do need the 10+ button since the player has that button on it.
