Hi there, got a little problem with my Pioneer CLD-1500 and can't figure out what might be the cause. Whenever I power up the unit for some LD playback the tray opens trouble-free. But after an hour, for example if I'd like to change a disc or simply remove it after playback, the tray does not stay open but closes automatically again and again. This is really annoying and I'd like to fix it somehow. Any possibility I can do this myself (don't want to ship this old machine to some service just because of this little mishap)?

May I add that the mechanics of this unit matches the japanese CLD-100. Other models including the same tray mechanics are the CLD-1400 and the CLD-1450...

i don't have any idea of your player BUT i had the same issue with my fathers 3070 and was told
that it's the old grease on the gears.

so if you can get it opened without messing anything up that might be the issue?

finally got some free time to check my CLD-1500 again... Well, lotsa old grease on the gears I had to remove, now the tray stays open all the time - thanks for the hint! But while testing it using some discs it seems the video board is now slowly "dying" from component failures. Can't fix it myself and repairs are costly so I had to remove it from the setup! Well, sh*t happens...

sorry to hear that, if it's just basic electronics like capacitors you can get any electronic person to repair.
once it's aligngment then that's another story.
i hope it will still live again one day
