Just wanted to post a problem and fix for posterity...

Problem:A CLD D604 using the intro feature bombed out playing / flipping to side 'B'. The disc has nothing on side B but the CAV turtle.

Player displayed an error code E3.

Never had any trouble with this unit before. It made a bad racket at the laser pickup tried to travel.

Solution: After removing my new to me RUSH Cameras eye disc with care, I had to 'reset' the laser pickup by manually using the worm gear to travel the pickup to the end of the spindle.

So far so good. Subdivisions still rocks.

Any thing else to add from anyone would be great to learn from.

Most likely you will next be replacing the motor holder on the pickup as the tabs that hold the two gears that transfer the movement from the wormgear to the track.

Thanks for the info karbahr. Yes, the gears between the motor worm gear and the laserpickup track are a little "loosie gosie". I will keep an eye and an ear on it.

If they just turn with a little slop you are fine. If they move up or down at all the tabs that hold them are broke.
