Post subject: [CLD-97] Help! Posted: 14 Jul 2013, 16:07 |

As I've written in past posts, my CLD 97 refused to play discs when I put them in the player. So, I have swapped laser pickups with my 3080. However, I am currently having a problem. The gear for the side changing mech popped off in the pickup I installed in the 97. I tried to find the location for the gear, but when I put it on while I manually put the mech in the side B position, I couldn't manually get the pickup back into the side A position, as it seemed as if the gear I installed was preventing it from moving back down to the side B position.
The symptom is when I press the side B button on the machine, the laser retracts into the turn unit, and then makes a rumbling noise. In order for me to get the laser to flip to side B, I have to manually flip the laser myself. If anyone could help, I would be greatly appreciative. What I really need to see is a picture of the 3080/97 laser mech with all gears properly installed.

Bad news amigos, the player blew a fuse I think. Won't power on. Sad day in laser land.

Well, I have taken a look on the board on which there are 4 fuses. Apparently, two of the fuses were clear, however, one of them was completely black inside. I have a feeling that the player blew a fuse. Does anyone have the p/n for this the fuses on the board with 4 fuses? Looking at the two fuses that have blown, they say 125 2A.

I went to Radio Shack and they didn't have the fuse. So, are all of the fuses on that board 125V 2A? When I check on the Pioneer webpage, they also mention a 3A 125V.

I ended up buying the fuses off amazon. As such as I would've liked to, it wasn't worth me wasting gas money just for a few fuses. However, I have taken the same value fuses out of both a 3080 and a 3090 and put them into the 97. I was able to get it to power on, but then after a few seconds, the player would shut down. In addition to that, after I tried to turn the player on again I heard the relay click and then a second click. I suspect something with the PSU. Also, the machine has gone out with the tray door open. Fortunately, I was lucky enough to stumble upon an ebay auction with 5 brand new 3080 ribbon cables, so at least when this sucker gets repaired, it's getting a brand new ribbon cable, as well as my 3080.
On a side note, couldn't Pioneer have engineered a ribbon cable that didn't have the tendency to crease as much in their dual sided machines?
