The subject of this thread explains what I am looking for. I tried E-bay and there are just too many choices to pick from. I can pay by PayPal.

Pioneer has a power cord; but, it costs $23.75 plus shipping (which is over $15.00) and it is not in stock.

I won the auction on E-bay for a CLD-D406; but, I did not get a power cord with it when I received it.

Thanks.

If it's the same kind of AC cord as a D50X or a D60X just go and get one from Radio Shack . . .

Thanks to both of you, but, the player's power cord and the radio shack cord are not the same. The player's power cord
has a round side on one side of the power cord and a flat side on the other side. The one from radio shack is rounded on both sides
and would not fit.

I have the same type of cord and the rounded ones will fit into the square jack. It just won't work the other way around if the jack was rounded on both sides and the cord was squared on one side.

However, if you absolutely have to have the one with the squared side, go to a Gamestop and ask for a Playstation 2 power cord.

Also many DVD players have that same type square/round cord. You just need to go to a better electronics supply joint. The square/round is for proper polarity to keep the live wire plug side matched properly to the right input, so you don't have live AC power just sitting there in the player waiting to catch a ground. Correct polarity will place the live wire (aka hot) to the on/off circuit where it should be.

Yes, Rixrex, polarity is important even if it is Alternating Current.

I have ordered a new power cord off E-bay that is claimed to fit Pioneer and a lot of other brands of equipment. The photo of the cord
shows the end that plugs into the player as having the same shape as the the player's socket. The only worry now is if the plug
is the correct physical size. The cost of the E-bay cord is $7.50 with free shipping.

I have a Sony LD player that has the correct shape for the Pioneer player's socket except that the cord end
is too big for the Pioneer player's socket.

More later after I get the E-bay cord.

Update:

I got the power cord off E-bay and it fits the CLD-D406 like a glove.

Keep on trucking, y'all.
