Hello everyone

Just noticed an odd issue, I was watching star trek first contact with the kids the other night when I noticed that the audio was slightly out of sync with the picture
I've now tried a few dd laserdiscs and I am getting the same issue, however when I use the normal audio (not the d/d rf)the sync issue isn't there?
The player is a Pioneer cld-d925 and my amp is a Yamaha dsp-a2, the amp does have a centre channel delay function however this seems to make the issue even worse

Has anyone else come across an issue like this? Any suggestions at all?

Many thanks in advance :D

i believe this is an error of the mastering, i think disclord posting that it was done by eye??
i know the FLY AC-3 some pressings are messed up with sync.

Is that the only AC3 disk that has the issue? If so, then clearly it is a title specific issue. If all your AC3 disks have the issue then it's hardware.

its not the disk, i watched the thing earlier and the audio was slightly out of sync, so i recon its a hardware issue :problem: odd though that its just appeared now

Wait, so it was out of sync before as well? Is the out of sync delay the same for all your AC3 disks?

If all other AC3 disks (not just this one) are out of sync, then I agree, most likely hardware. The audio delay function on the receiver can't be adjusted to compensate?

Yep it appears to be all discs with an ac3 track, just tried Forrest gump and it's the same, however when I watch through the regular audio it's fine
The audio delay function on the amp seems to make things worse, like it's increasing the delay when what I need is a reduction...very odd

Do you have another laserdisc player so you can test whether it's player dependent? I guess the question now is whether it's the player or your receiver causing the problem?

i do have another player i could try however its a big job to hook it up to the amp as i have all my equipment stacked in a very tite cabinet

i think your right though, i will need to bite the bullet in order to see where the issue lies, i am starting to think it could be the amp as i noticed a slight delay yesterday when watching Band of brothers on blu ray, all the decoding is done within the bd player and fed to the amps secondary imputs---i could be imagining it now though

I have have finally managed to swap the player for another cld925, unfortunately the issue is still there :problem:
The audio on ac3 is slightly out of sync, I suppose this has now narrowed down the issue to the amp which is a Yamaha dsp-a2 other than this issue it works perfectly, could the cable between the player and amp be the issue? Does it have to be of a specific type? maybe I've swapped the cables over in the past?
Clutching at straws now I feel, however it seems odd for the amp to develop this type of fault you would think it would just stop working.

If anyone has any ideas it would be appreciated :D

Do you get the same sync issue when you're watching a DVD?

No, I currently have my tv connected via optical (toslink I think) to the amp so that anything else including the DVD comes through the amp in pro logic and in perfect sync
It appears to be just the ac3 demodulator input on the amp that's causing the issue

Sounds like it's your AC3 decoder in the receiver is the problem. If the audio delay settings don't fix the issue, I think you are looking at replacing the receiver or buying an external AC3 decoder.

This is really doing my head in now, just managed to pick up a replacement amp with demod built in, swapped the amp over and hey presto........ The same issue
So I have now swapped the laserdisc player over, changed the cable from the player to the amp and now changed the amp, I'm really at a loss now I can only assume its a problem with the display
The tv is a LG LM670t 55" smart tv

I'm going to try and change the input on the tv, it's currently using the scart input so I will try the composite when I can find a cable, the saga continues

If you have swapped every component except for the TV, I would try a different TV to confirm.

OK i don't really have time to read all this BUT.
if you have tried 2 different LD players and 2 different amps it sounds like you are getting the issue due to PAL/NTSC

Finally getting somewhere with this, just plugged my daughters tv and no sync issue, I've had my 55" tv for over a year now can't believe it's taken this much time for me to notice the issue, I'm wondering if the fault has manifested itself as the result of a software update? The tv is connected to the web and set to update automatically.
Not sure how I can resolve this now, I've been playing with the settings for a while now but can improve things :(
At least I've managed to pinpoint the issue now, thanks for all the comments guys
