My CLD-99 does not like Simon and Garfunkel in Central Park (digital sound version). This disc takes a long time with chapter searches and it pretty much refuses to play the first 5 minutes of side B. This is the only disc that I have with this problem. Disc has a few very light scratches and no laser rot. Does this particular title have known issues? I ordered a 2nd copy which I am still waiting for. This disc did play ok on the sellers machine.

What your describing sounds like laser rot. Sometimes the LD looks fine and they still have rot.

edit: this sounds like the disc, i have issues with discovision discs in one player over another.
it could be an older pressing that just has issues????

I forgot to mention that I did get an F5 error code on one of my attempts to play side 2. I'm going to open up the player and just clean the laser. Can't hurt. Also another copy should be here in a day or two.

yes it could, i wouldn't clean anything inside regarding the laser.
i believe ldservice posted that the some lasers have a coating that you can wipe off.
not worth the risk at all.
double check if you can or should clean the laser.
don't destroy your player over a faulty 10 dollar disc

Thanks. Good advice. 2nd copy came today. I just checked it out briefly and both sides appear to play perfectly. This 2nd copy has Technidisc stamped around the label. The 1st copy does not have a name but the markings would seem to indicate it's also Technidisc. At the very least they appear to be from different batches.

good deal, i would rather you destory a 10 dollar disc than a great player like the CLD-99
it could also be a flaw that only your player picks up, i had discs that play fine in one but not the other player.
but it's very rare to find them with flaws and really only on easier to find discs, so you don't have to pay too much for replacements
