There are the following possibilities to connect the player to the amplifier/TV:

scart
component
s-vhs

ac-3
digital output

Whats the best way? For DD I connect the AC-3 via Demodulator. Stereo using component or digital? Scart or component or scart for video?

Thanks for your feedback :-)

Its composite, not component :P

I used s-video connector back in the day when I owned the 925.
The scart is composite only.
So doesn't really matter if you use composite cable or scart cable.
Best would be to try all combinations and see which one you like best.
If you see a difference that is.

sorry for the mistake ;-)

And it is digital optical output for audio.

I'll try different setting as soon as I (hopefully) get it back from repair/service...

Update will follow which setting made the race...

Composite can be better than scart, because you can use a better (shielded) cable

Hey again,

does it make sense to use a e.g. Ligawo Converter/scaler (S-Video to HDMI) and connect the LD player with my TV via HDMI?

Some Philips LD player have a component output via scart ( Euro AV) never had one

Apperently the Sony MDP 850 has component output via scart

I have a 850 as backup player ,its worth to try if component output improves the picture quality

Best regards

Good afternoon And

I shall be using the Composite cable and connection next time I connect one of my Laserdisc Players to the amp.

I think this will be done to my CLD 97 or the DVL 91

Thank you for posting your findings sir, as this is very encouraging.

Kind Regards

I don't think its component, but RGB! (Scart doesn't have component)

Good afternoon Guys,

The confusion that some have is that the COMBINATION LD & DVD players the Component outs are for the DVD section and not Laserdisc.

I hope this helps.

Kind Regards
