Just as the subject line says, my CLD-D704 will play CDs but not LDs. Put in an LD, and it spins up, then slows down and stops. I bought this thing off eBay about three years ago for a great price because of this issue, but have never figured out how to get it repaired. What are my options? And is it expensive? Or might this be something someone could talk me through to fix myself? I'd really love to have it working. I know about laserdiscservice.com, but the cost of shipping something this heavy to the West Coast from Philadelphia makes me blanch. thanks for any suggestions or advice, Katie |

And does it do that same thing of you set down a disc and press "side B" rather than CLOSE or PLAY? This will make the assembly flip to side B and play that side first. I really expect it will have the same trouble if you do that, but why not check. |

Do LDs have a separate laser module then or just require a strong diode? If they have a separate diode I may have just given someone poor advice in using a CD lens cleaner for laserdiscs. |

There is only one pickup with this player. This is a know issue that replacing a few parts fixes. As mentioned I DO NOT recommend normal LD lens cleaning unless you have people that smoke heavily. The lens will stay clean. |
