2070 and 3070 were the first dual sided Pioneer players. No digital memory for special effects with CLV LD's. Otherwise I hope it came with the remote as this has the older control code where you input the chapter or time and then press enter to do the search or jump. Starting with the 3080 series Pioneer deleted this button and added a "+10" button.

The 2070 should be a mechanically solid player, but with reduced resolution as even the 3070 only had a 576fH TBC. Nice deal, overall

Hopefully you can read this if you enlarge it. Because of file size limit can't put a higher quality pic.

thanks a TON vinylcollector, saved them and can read them perfectly thanks a heap for the scan. Now for a stupid question :)...someone said above

"No digital memory for special effects with CLV "

can someone point me in the right direction or if they're willing enough tell me what exactly that entails? I'm googling but not coming up with that exact answer.

In order to pause with still picture, advance field by field, or do fast forward/slow motion with picture on CLV discs, the player has to have a built-in digital memory.

You should still be able to do all of the above with CAV discs on the 2070.

i have both of the direct predecessor models to the 1989 2070/3070; 1987/88's CLD-1030/3030.

apparently very similar to these 1989 models, - so much so in fact that many people out there tend to get these 1988/1989 lines confused with eachother -
the $900.00MSRP 1030 was a basic player without digital memory functions of any sort
and a basic, stripped-down single-DAC audio output, whilst the $1300.00 3030 had pretty much everything
short of dual-side play, including an elaborate dual-DAC audio output.

i cannot say with with any real certainty, since i've never owned either of the two models in question here,
but i logically assume a safe bet that PIONEER followed the same features/marketing stratagem with this 1989 dual lineup of theirs...

You are correct about the +10, what I was trying to say is to perform the search on the 3070 or 2070 you enter the track number you want to go to and then press the search button, for example, chapter 25 would be pressing "2", "5", then "search" With newer players you press "+10", "+10", then "5" and it goes. The older players required you to press the "search/memory" button.

According to my Catalogue only the 3070 will do trick play functions on CLV discs as well as CAV discs. The 2070 and 1070 (which I used to own) will only do trick play functions on CAV discs.

I haven't owned a 3070 or 2070 but the 1070 I had if I wanted chapter 15 I had to press the 10+ and then the 5 for it to work. Trying to press 15 and search wouldn't work as it does on my older players.
