This is the only problem I have had with this player, it it usually happens about 3 times out of 10. Does anybody know what the cause of this is? I do not really feel like taking it apart, because it works great besides that. Thanks. Here's a short demo of it doing that: http://youtu.be/b9vxBF1u-OA

Honestly, if it does not affect any other part of the functionality, I do not care much to do any work on it. The player playing back an entire side: http://youtu.be/wdI-bTXJbtg

Here's the thing, it won't get any better by itself. It can get to the point where disc slip at start up may prevent a disc from playing.

One thing is that I kept trying discs by plants other than Mitsubishi, and they all span down in expected time. When I tried The Terminator (THX version) and Urusei Yatsura - Movie 2, they sometimes took longer than usual to spin down (maybe it could be warpage?) Sorry to say, but I mainly just want to wait until it becomes a real problem because I do not have much technological experience at all (at the most, I can program a little bit of Javascript), and I do not have the money to replace the player (I am focused mostly on getting the Urusei Yatsura Limited Edition Vol. 1-10 LD Boxset).

Not trying to sound like a know more than you (which I am very sorry if I am), but here is a quick video where I try spinning a Pioneer Japan disc four times: http://youtu.be/y_A0YGwVLvwAfter that, there was no label wear at all. I do have some discs with label wear, but they all came like that when I first got them (Urusei Yatsura - Movie 5 actually had label wear brand-new.)

really, don't worry. the wobble is due to the disc not being perfectly flat, the laser compensates for this. not all discs are perfectly 100% flat, they should be but they aren't. from what i can hear that hiss is the same sound that my player did before i replaced that rubber mat on the motor. its on the bottom part, so now that you have the top off you will be able to see it, just get a qtip and come cleaner wipe it down, let it dry and try again, if it kees doing this you will have to replace that rubber mat. but it's really fine, i think you are thinking its a more serious issue than it really is right now. when it stops playing then worry. ________________________________ the rein-o official signature:

Sadly, the problem seems to have come back. Oh, well. I'll probably just deal with it until I can possibly get a better player (it will be a long time before this happens, though.) After all, playback is perfect, so it really isn't THAT big of a deal. Also, it seems to sometimes depend on what disc I use (for example, I tried out Rain Man: Special Edition (1988) [ML104742], and it span down a smooth as butter.) Also, I was supposed to clean the ring around the spindle, right (that's what I did)?

Also, just so you know, it actually doesn't happen THAT often (it does it mostly on my Mitsubishi discs, like I said before), but when it does, it's somewhat annoying. When I get more money after that, I will probably look into getting the replacement ring.

One more thing, for now: I actually just tried another Mitsubishi disc that's not Urusei Yatsura - Beautiful Dreamer or The Terminator ( Commando (1985) [0148485]) 10 times, and it span down fine each time. Are you sure that this isn't just because those two discs are a bit warped and the player is having a harder time stopping the disc because of it?

Are you sure that this isn't just because those two discs are a bit warped and the player is having a harder time stopping the disc because of it? Man, you are thorough with your stuff. Who knows if it's because of a warped disc, I'd just replace the ring, it'll take 20 minutes at most and it's extremely easy to fix. The worries disappear, because if you don't replace the ring, I think it's going to bother you to no end if you notice a disc not slowing down correctly. I probably wouldn't even notice it unless it was real heinous.
