One more thing, for now:

I actually just tried another Mitsubishi disc that's not Urusei Yatsura - Beautiful Dreamer or The Terminator (Commando (1985) [0148485]) 10 times, and it span down fine each time. Are you sure that this isn't just because those two discs are a bit warped and the player is having a harder time stopping the disc because of it?

Man, you are thorough with your stuff. Who knows if it's because of a warped disc, I'd just replace the ring, it'll take 20 minutes at most and it's extremely easy to fix. The worries disappear, because if you don't replace the ring, I think it's going to bother you to no end if you notice a disc not slowing down correctly. I probably wouldn't even notice it unless it was real heinous.

Yeah. I sadly get worried and upset quite easily about some things. :\

Don't let it get you down man, we're all particular about something. My vehicles drive me nuts any noise they make that doesn't sound "normal" will put me on edge, they get inspected like military jets regularly. :)

Also, that V2600, I have that, and it's an excellent machine. The build quality is very good, it feels sturdier than most other players I've been in contact with, and the output is very nice. I haven't replaced it because I can't find a player locally that does better on the video side. I think if you replace the rubber ring on it, and give it a bit of grease on the gears, it'll run like a top for years to come.

If you order a ring, I'll order one too, we can both freshen up our work horses.

Thanks! Sadly, the rubber ring seems to be a bit expensive (Ldservice said it would cost me $20 if he can find one that he has in stock for my particular player). I'll probably get around to it eventually, but it may be a little while.

I'm sorry for bumping this topic, but I just got around to taking the top of my player, and I want to clear a bit of my confusion. Which part am I supposed to either try to clean up or replace?

Sorry about the somewhat bad quality. My camera doesn't work too well in bad lighting.

first one, that thin textured outer edge.
I tried cleaning mine, worked for 2 discs then had the same issue.
good luck :)

I just used a q-tip with a bit of rubbing alcohol at the end, and I went over the textured outer edge several times. I hope this is the right thing to do. I'll let it dry for a while before I put it back together.

should be, I don't know what to use for cleaning, I tried a soap mix and it sort of worked but the best is replace.

I just did the same thing except this time I used a soapy mix. I'll let it dry for a day before I put any discs in it.
