Does anyone have the regular manual and the service manual for this unit? I just purchased one that will be here next week and I would like to have these on hand, ready to use. I have checked the archive here and my model is not available. Or, is there another unit that is virtually identical that I could use the service manual for?

The CLD-D501 and 502 should be a close match.

Failing that, look at the CLD-3090 and CLD-701 manuals, minus all the 'brains' in the signal processing. I think the 2090 has a CCD TBC and no digital memory. I don't think they bothered to bring the digital TBC down the product line until the D503.

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately, as my luck might have it, all of the models that you refer to are NOT available on the LDDB index of manuals. :( I'll do some Google searching to see if I can locate them elsewhere and if so, be sure to submit them for inclusion on LDDB.

My specific reason for wanting the service manual is that the player I am getting has the issue that "the disc tray gets stuck". I'll have to see exactly what that means when I get it in later this coming week. Might just need to be cleaned, regreased and possibly the tray timing reset. Either way, it should be a step up from my current CLD-980.

If you're hoping the manual will help with mechanical issues don't waste your time. The manual doesn't cover things like disassembly and reassembly. These were covered at the service seminars.
