Just picked up a Pioneer CLD-2070 and about 100 discs. Watched 5 movies, no problems. Then it started skipping ahead during one play (did about 58 minutes in 10 minutes).

Now it's stuck in a loop, will play for about 20 seconds then jump back and start at the same point again. Tested more than one disc and it does the same thing on all of them.

If you try to switch to side B it stops and says "Remove Transit Screw" which is removed.

All help is much appreciated!

You have a heat issue. Value of the player is not worth the repair. My guess is either main control board or power supply.

sounds more like the transport mechanism needs a cleaning and re-lubrication. a snap to do yourself, actually. feel free to ask me how...

if lubrication is the issue, -as i strongly suspect- and the OP is even mildly technically inclined,
than it is worth every bit of the OP's time to personally give the player a once over as far as their skills may allow...

The remove transit screw message is a controller issue not lubrication but anything is worth trying if you can open it up and find the excess grease on the side of the rails and spread it out give it a try. Otherwise I do not recommend spending money as the controller repair is too expensive.

Correct me if I'm wrong but it only states to remove the transit screw when it tries to flip to side b, does make a loud noise when it tries, wondering if the mechanism is stuck somehow. But even if that can't be fixed, couldn't you just put side B side up and play without it automatically switching sides.

Of course, that assumes the skipping/looping can be fixed.

If you unplug the unit for a day and then try it again and it initially works then eventually fails again then it is a temperature issue and not worth fixing.
