I'd like to see if any passive components were upgraded from the 406/606/R5-type players, or if all the improvement is with the NEC chip.

What kind of component changes are you looking for?

Any possible resistor, capacitor, and transistor quality changes. Something like the changes made to the CLD31 over the CLD1090, on top of silkscreening "ELITE":

Pioneer didn't make too many changes on that 31 Elite I had 2 of them sent to me for repair and same problem... 2 Caps leaked over time and just really made a mess of the main board and the one 31 was just beyond repair. Usually its a cap or two in the power supply and Audio section and maybe better Dac that Pioneer would upgrade.

R7 not quite sure all that was improved besides the 3-D Comb. Ldservice (Duncan told me back in 2004 that it had 5 times better Blacks detail in the picture than a DvL-700/90 Elite.. (That's using composite straight out to a video test monitor)
