An aside: This is probably the closest service manual to the R7G out there, this player uses the same motherboard type (VWS1310, the R7G has 1311). Just ignore the second CD tray and VCD features ;)

so I want to get this straight.
the disc plays fine in your other players, this one only shows those multi colored horizontal bars or is it those S shaped waves in the background?????
whenever I've had those multicolored bars its either a defect on the disc or there is dirt of some type on the disc.
if its dirt you can wipe it off with a shirt.
do you have other discs that you have tried and played the entire disc through from start to finish????

I have not tried the disc on another player but why would it work when I play side 2 as side 1? Yes, I watched the whole movie through and only side 2 had issues.

What do you mean by pushing the top of the metal assembly left and right? If I move things while disc is playing, it will not harm anything? Thank you for the help.

You gently move to the right and left the by applying pressure to the front sides of the top metal piece of the mechanical assembly, you are not bending it enough to bend it plus your not pushing down or up.

So I played a couple more CLV movies and not getting the problem. Cannot figure out why it is doing it on some movies and not all. So far is has done it on Young Guns 2 and Say Anything. When I play both those movies on other players, they play fine though. Strange.

If side B centering is close to the adjustment limit then some discs will work and others won't. Every disc is not perfectly the same.

well, I will keep trying new movies as I get a chance to watch them. If I have issues with many, what is the cost of adjustment Kurtis?
