I got a used Pioneer Elite cld-53 which was needing repair. It was shipped in the original box with the styrofoam supports so arrived really good. I'm guessing they were the original owner, as it still had the warranty cards the un-opened French manual (being in Canada) along with the regular manual and remote.

Powering it on the laser assembly moved some and then sounded as it was stuck, so I took the cover off (unpowered) and nothing majorly loose I could see so gently forced the assembly to move it. That made it work side a and b too. Testing a few discs later the assembly stuck again (moving it fixed it) So I lubed/greased things, and a closer look the one white gear has one of the cogs just partly gone, so I'm guessing that is the problem?. All the other geared things look ok. Here are some pics.

I'm hoping I can get a gear for it. Does anyone know what the proper name for it? or the part number?

Thank's

It's hard to see, but it's the a cog on the top part of the gear.

You did check that the load belt was not slipping or loose, right? Just something to check

About the missing cog, you're using that term and meaning that a gear-tooth is perhaps worn or broken? Or does that white gear have some sort of part above the gear that is use in motion? Maybe in such a way that it catches sometimes and then gets stuck other times, right?

Looks like an easily replacable item, fortunately.

Yes I checked and cleaned the loading belt and it's fine. The gear-tooth is broken. It's only just 1 tooth on the gear, and probaby about 1/4 of the tooth missing. (too much missing to be just worn)

I replied but it didn't get posted. If you are talking about the little white gear that goes up and touches the big black one that performs the mechanical tilt adjustment for alignment. Nothing to do with pickup movement. You need to check the gear on the pickup or the track it moves on for sometime in the groves as that can keep the pickup from moving during the short playback movements. It could also be a dead spot in the pickup movement motor.

Ok I will check that. If that gear is for the tilt adjustment then, maybe that piece of the cog is in the player in grooves of the track. I'll try turning the player upside down and see. The motor was still making a noise when it stops so I'm guesing more that it's stuck on something, then a dead spot.

Thank's for the advice
