Post subject:  Getting to the flex cable on a Pioneer cld-2070

I'm trying to fix my pioneer cld-2070. The door and tray will only open part of the way sometimes. I can usually get it open but have give it some help sometimes. I've been reading up and it seems to be a flex cable issue, but I don't know how to get to it. Any help would be much appreciated. I am very new to this foray, but extremely excited.

He machine plays great when I get the disc in the tray. It's just a pain getting it loaded.

Don't know how to get to it but it will be attached to the door, when it hinges open there will be the cable going from the player to the door.
Good luck.

while i've never personally owned or worked on this model, with it's general similarity of front panel design
to PIONEER's prior year's LDP models CLD-1030/-3030, -each of which i have owned and worked on, more than once-
dismantling the front panel down to the front panel PCB and flex lead on the -2070/-3070 series
is likely little more involved than it is with the -1030/-3030.

remove the front bezel assembly, -probably fastened to the main chassis via the usual screws and snap mountings-
disengage all wiring/leads from the bezel assy. from their main chassis-side mountings, and the front bezel should now be free,
enabling you to unscrew the rear panel of the disc tray door/FL display module,
which should grant you immediate access to the front panel PCB and attached flex lead.

IIRC, at least with the 1030-/-3030 series, the flex cable should be removable from both ends,
making direct removal and replacement child's play, proving you can actually find an effective substitute,
besides pulling one from a donor player...
