Hi, I just recently picked up a Pioneer CLD-V880 LaserKaraoke LD/VCD player. ![]() When I first tried it out on my LCD TV, I didn't notice any issues, but when I hooked it up to my CRT via composite (the only output this player has and needs, tbh) and I see this really off-putting "rainbow" distortion/shimmering in the video. This is especially noticeable in darker scenes and the letterbox area. This doesn't seem to happen on the splash screen or when playing VCDs, and my old CLD-V2600 LD player doesn't do this. Flipping sides doesn't improve anything. So, is there something possibly wrong with my video setup that could be causing this? Please let me know. Thanks. This is the best pictures I could take of the issue. I know they really don't show it that well.: ![]()

Its hard to say as the pictures are really closeup. It could be crosstalk or it could be poor quality cables and also it could be dirty contacts on the player and TV. Try putting some rubbing alcohol on a rag or paper towel and rub the outside of the contacts on the player and TV, make sure its turned off. Use a q-tip and put it inside the contacts. If you still see it then it could be the cables, try others, if you still have it it may be crosstalk which is a normal issue on some players. When i've seen crosstalk its never been colored just noise but it could be colored in the black???? |

Also feel like noting that whenever you pause a CAV disc, the rainbow distortion is still moving. |

I own one of these players and can't say that I've ever come across that interference when I used it (and I used it on a lot of displays since I take it to friends' places for Karaoke.) |

I think this player now has worse issues... I was watching Yellow Submarine when suddenly a bunch of lines started scrolling down the screen and a little bit later the disc badly went out of sync for a few seconds. |

Could be a tracking/alignment issue. Look at the 504 SM for adjustment info. (edit: links) http://manuals.lddb.com/LD_Players/Pion ... N_Scan.pdf This should probably make it into the manuals area too - this is similar to the v880, except for the second CD tray(!) http://elektrotanya.com/pioneer_cld-210 ... nload.html |

CLD-D504 SM service manual. I feel it would be best to post more pictures so we can see what it really is. Better safe than sorry, you don't want to start turning stuff if it has nothing to do with your problem. |
