hi guys,

I`m new to the forum and also laser discs to be honest. up until a few weeks ago, I`d never seen a player or disc, never mind owned one.
anyway, I`m a carpenters / Karen carpenter fan and collect anything to do with these guys, including a couple of laser discs they brought out, but couldn't play. so a few weeks ago, I brought a player, a PIONEER CLD-S315 in lovely condition, but didn't realise at the time, it was PAL only and my carpenters discs are NTSC. so, I re-sold it back on and luckily got my money back and then brought the same player again, but dual format, so I can buy both format discs.
anyway, I`m hooked on this thing and I`m really impressed with picture and sound quality, enough to buy a load of films since :D
however, I have a little issue with it I can`t seem to get rid of, so wondered if anyone has any ideas please?
I have a 50 inch smart t.v, which has a bluray player hooked up to it, a freeview box and all this is hooked up to my 5.1 surround sound system. the laser disc player is connected via a gold plated scart lead to the scart on the t.v and that's it.
I`ve noticed though, that when I switch the laser disc player on, there`s a buzzing that comes from my speakers and the louder the volume, the louder the buzz!
it`s not an over-bearing buzz, but in quiet parts of a movie, I can hear it clearly, but when there`s sound coming across from the actual movie, it can`t be heard.
I have moved the player a couple of times, in case it was picking up interference from something, but dos`nt appear to have made any difference.
any ideas please guys, I`d really appreciate it

The cld-s315 is pal Ntsc compatible to begin with.
It does not do analoge sound!
The cld-s310 is a Pal player!
It might be a ground loop issue you have there or simply get a quality scart cable. These days a decent scart cable is cheap. Profigold or bandridge has quality cables for a small price.

I had some interference with low quality scart cables years ago when i first got into the format. The type of scart lead that came with a player wasn't decent to begin with.

Good luck ,

tripped myself up a bit there. yes, the first player I bought was the 310, pal only, but then I got this s315 which plays both.

I`ll try a different scart lead, thank you, appreciate the advise!
great forum and some good collections of films you guys have here.
