Does anyone have experience with the new substitute LD player remotes that are on eBay? https://www.ebay.com/itm/386520383954 All the buttons are in the right place. I’m not expecting Pioneer build quality, I’m really just wondering about compatibility. I just need the audio button to switch language tracks.

The audio buttons are different depending on the model, some units require a remote with one button to switch between analog and digital sound and another to switch between right/left/stereo and other models use one button and rotating thru all the functions. So your laserdisc player model number is important with talking audio switching.

above is all true.

But to answer your question, if you are asking about the aftermarket remotes then the answer is depending on your player yes they do work.
I had one of the original Pioneer ones that died and had to get one of these like you posted and it works fine for my players.
Your players may differ but it should work at your own risk.

Quality isn't that bad either, just really a different plastic.

The remote shown uses the single button method of audio switching. That is, you cycle through L/R/Stereo in Digital then L/R/Stereo in analog all in sequence. The older players like the S201 had one button for changing L/R/Stereo and another for changing between Digital and analog. The D/A button on those players doubles as the CX button. You need the right kind of remote for your era.

Thanks for the feedback. I feel more comfortable ordering this now. I’ll be using it on a CLD-S104, so it’s the right remote for the unit.

For replacement Pioneer remote control with all the basic controls, I sill have a batch of brand new CU-CLD134 acquired from Pioneer Japan before they shut down all operations.

Listed as compatible with these players (and maybe a few more):

LD-S9 / CU-LD020 (VXX2464) + CU-CLD134 (compatible)
CLD-R7G / CU-CLD150 (VXX2541) + CU-CLD134 (compatible)
CLD-R6G / CU-CLD140 (VXX2416) + CU-CLD134 (compatible)
CLD-C5G / CU-CLD113 (VXX2240) + CU-CLD134 (compatible)
CLD-R4 / CU-CLD111 (VXX2245) + CU-CLD134 (compatible)
CLD-C3 / CU-CLD111 (VXX2245) + CU-CLD134 (compatible)
CLD-Z1 / CU-CLD110 (VXX2169) + CU-CLD134 (compatible)
CLD-HF7G / CU-CLD109 (VXX2127) + CU-CLD134 (compatible)
CLD-HF9G / CU-CLD108 (VXX2126) + CU-CLD134 (compatible)
CLD-S270 / CU-CLD106 (VXX2115) + CU-CLD134 (compatible)

The Pioneer CLD-S104 being from the same base chassis as the Pioneer CLD-S270, it should be compatible.

Julien
