I have a Pioneer CLD-D703. It will play track 1 on a laserdisc, and then it will scramble the audio and video. When selecting side 2 (B) the laser assembly changes sides, takes a few attempts and then will play track 1 with scrambled audio and video.

I also have a Pioneer CLD-D503. This one plays the intro to the laserdisc (THX intro), then jumps back 10-15 seconds and repeats. When trying to play side 2, the laser assembly changes over but will not play.

Centering?
Does it play a CD and when you play side B first is it OK so this way you can rule out the disc.

It will not play a CD. I have tried other laserdiscs that I know do work (I have a working player as well)

From what I've read its a centering issue.
If it won't play CDs then it won't play LDs.

I'm no tech so fix at your own risk.

I have had a player that would play LDs but not CDs. As rein-o said, this sounds like it could be a centering issue.
Look at the service manual for this player and see how to perform adjustments on centering. Since you likely do not have the proper adjusting equipment, you can attempt the following:
Mark the original position (and/or take a picture) of the centering adjustment screw. While attempting to play a CD, make very small adjustments until it plays.

Again, you can easily make things worse if you do not know what you are doing, so proceed at your own risk. This is also assuming that centering is the issue.

I will look into centering. Eventually I would like to get an oscope and get better at troubleshooting. Thank you very much!

So, out of curiosity, does anyone know where the dial is for centering for CLD-D703 and CLD-D503? I see different types of dials but not sure which one I should be looking at.

The service manual for the 504 is uploaded here: http://manuals.lddb.com/LD_Players/Pion ... /CLD-D504/

Centering adjustment is on page 48. I'm not sure how much different the 504 is from the 503 internally, so you may be better off trying to find the service manual for the 503/703 so you are sure you are making the adjustments correctly.
