Hello
I recently purchased a CLD95- after switching on it makes a constant noise and after switching the open tray button it tries to open up but fails with silence or sometimes with even louder noise
I would like to ask what causes the problem and if there is any chance to repair it?
Thanks

More than likely you just need to replace the belts.

If not packed properly and the unit experiences a hard vertical jolt the mounting tabs for the loading mechanism can break and it drops and this can happen. This is also a possibility.

Thank you
I will try to locate the belts- a guy in Italy offers the replacement synchro belt on eBay
eBay item number:172618739572 but the other one SCQ4. 3 is only available in the U.S. I think.
Will check the tabs too.

You have to get the tray out to see the belts or to be able remove the front to see them.

To get it going I still need the thing VNL1253 SLGEAR (E) in laser module
Mine has some teeth broken and this causes the problem. Is there anywhere to find a spare?
Thanks very much in advance.

I don't know of anywhere you can buy just that gear. Supposedly https://instrumentalparts.com/gear-vnl1253/ has it, but I doubt it.

You will likely need to find someone that has a dead carriage assembly VWT1054 you can buy and pull the gear from. Other option is 3D printing.

I’m going to attempt this idea to fix a busted gear on a Sony LD player.

https://www.instructables.com/Broken-Gear-Repair/

Not sure if will work but no harm in trying.

Thanks a lot guys - I keep my fingers crossed they get it for me - last time it took them 4 weeks to supply the VEB1069 sqare belt but its with me.

Is it very tough to replace the broken gear with the new one- any clues?
Thanks!

See if you can find a CLD-2080 or 3080 as they have the same pickup.

I understand getting a new pićkup requires further adjustment?
How about the change of just the gear which I hope to receive.
Does it stil require the adjustment? I do not have a test disc and so on.

Yes if you swap entire pickup, you will need to make adjustments. You might have to also adjust Side B centering if you remove the top metal plate (screws usually have yellow locking compound on them).

That is why it would be best to just replace the gear.
