I recently purchased a Faroudja LD-1000 for parts off eBay. The player was as is due to the tray being completely shredded like someone forced it open and tearing out the front panel and destroying much of the tray (Smashed to bits) in the process. Knowing this, I figured it would at the very least be good for spares on my TheaterVision since they are basically the same player other than some very slight differences in the outer case.

After receiving it, I removed the tray assembly, and cleaned out all the debris. I could repair it if I can find a spare tray assembly from a CLD-99 or similar player. Can anyone tell me if there are any budget models that use the same tray mechanism, or where I could get a low money CLD-99 for the tray mechanism?

If nothing else, I will keep it for parts on my TheaterVision.

Wouldn’t a CLD-D503 work since it’s also a gamma turn chassis as well? Gotta be some of these players lying around broken and thus affordable.

The spindle motors in these players are weak. Eventually there will be lots of players to rob trays from.

Yes, the 503 will work, just won't have the Elite coating on the tray
