I own one of these discs, but my CLD-1750 is unable to play the video portion. The audio tracks are fine. Any ideas? I've had the disc a few months, but I only got the machine yesterday, so it may be some obvious setting I haven't found yet! It'll play a 12" CD Video with no issues. |

There are no settings, the player auto detects it like everything else. If it’s an NTSC/PAL deck there way be weirdness. If it’s a PAL CDV it’s probably rotted. If it’s an NTSC disc...double check compatibility there. PAL/NTSC models have weird issues that I’m not familiar with. |

How do you have your video connected from player to TV. Not all tracking on 5 inch have videos, sometimes its only 1 of the tracks and you may be playing the non video track. What disc are you trying to play??? If you get audio you should get video at the same time IF you connected your player to your TV correctly. |

For reference, the first track on a CDV is the video and that’s what will play if the player saw the disc as a CDV. After that the other tracks will play and they will be audio only. VSD are the same but only have video. Also for reference, it seems that most PAL CDV are rotted. This is unfortunate since Europe/UK would surely have the best releases. In general CDV is a format I was really excited about back in the day but now I see it as almost useless. There are very few releases and playing the discs makes all but the sturdiest of player sound it’s going to explode. I only have two on my want list now I think, and I own like three. |

It has been over 10 years ago or so now that I bought a collection that had around 15-ish CDVs, all were PDO discs & all had problems - most with video & audio issues including a few that would not play at all. They were passed on fairly promptly. It was not a player issue as they were checked on a 515,a 2950 & a 925. Sadly the PDO CDVs are problematic & it is a pity as there were some interesting ones released. Does anyone here have any of the PDO Blackburn pressed CDVs that still play well? |
