Post subject:  [CLD-R7G] Replacement belt

Was looking for a replacement belt for the disc tray in the sticky threads, couldn't find a parts number suitable belt for my R7G.
Does anyone know the correct size and from what equivalent Pioneer player I can use a replacement belt?

How difficult is it to replace the belt for turn mechanism or maybe it's best to leave this belt alone not to screw up anything?

Buy a SCQ3.8 if you want to have one sitting around. It’s the same mechanism used for the CLD-D504/604/505/605/406/606 US models.

My player still works like a charm.
Have no problems yet, knock on wood!
I was thinking of doing a tune up but won't touch anything as it still works.

@ krbahr
thanks for the info.
Pioneer do they still sell genuine replacement belts?
The SCQ3.8 is this a Pioneer parts number?

Something like this?

I bought from them, very good products.
It won't matter if its official Pioneer just the size.

+1 for Marvac

I've been using SCQ3.6 for VEB1184. I'll have to order some SCQ3.8s and try them out.

The SCQ3.8 is still a little smaller than the Pioneer VEB1184 so it should go longer without slipping. I moved to this as if the belt is too tight it can wear out the motor bearings.

Thanks for posting this. I'll start using them. What do you use for PEB1013? I think I just installed a SCQ4.0 in a CLD-D502.

Have not replaced one in years so last time I would have used the Pioneer part.

Belt VEB1184 can it fit the R7G player?

SCQ3.8, this belt is it a bit tighter and more narrow than the VEB1184?
You mention it could wear out motor bearings if the belt is to tight.
Is it risk free to use the SCQ3.8 in the long run or should I go for VEB1184 if it fits my player??

If you want the VEB1184 get it now as other threads stated Pioneer laserdisc support has ended. The SCQ3.8 is a generic belt and always available.

OK, that's great to know the VEB1184 belt also fits the CLDR7G as it also fits my other player the DVL-909.
I thought this belt only fit certain Pioneer players and not the R7G?'

Belt VEB1184 is this only for the tray mechanism or does it also fit for side turn mechanism on both players R7G and the DVL-909?

Thanks

The mechanism for the R7G is the same one they started using in LD players with the CLD-D604, no belt for turning the mechanism, laser movement gear just rides a track to the other side.

That's even better, no belt for turn mechanism for the CLD-R7G, one less problem to deal with.
Didn't know this!
DOES DVL-909 HAVE A BELT FOR TURN MECHANISM?

Actually I found two Pioneer spare belts at home.
Will come in handy when it's time to change them.

Thanks

Yes, The DVL series has an additional belt to turn the laser

For a skilled electronics repairman, is it difficult to access and replace the belt for turn mechanism?
LD players was not very common to be sold in Sweden, not many repair shops have experience fixing LD players.

The belt for turn mechanism for DVL series 909-919
What's the partsnumber for this?

Thanks

Post subject:  Re: Belt for CLD-R7G

I have taken apart my DVL-909 and I'm by no means a skilled electronics repairman, just an amateur that have progressed over the years by dissasembling multiple players to get to several parts. If you take your time you will get to the belt without too much of a problem. The CLD-R7G ain't that complex, like many older players are. I believe I have read the CLD-R7G has an Epsilon turn mechanism. Briefly browsing some service manuals for other players with an epsilon turn mechanism, I cannot find a belt part number. It may not have a belt for the turn mechanism at all.
Remember, the DVL-909/919 have two separate optical laser mechanisms that flips around in addition to changing sides and The CLD-R7G has only one optical laser mechanism.

The part number for the turn mechanism here is VEB1184, the same as the loading belt part number.

so it was the same size belt for turn mechanism and loading belt for disc tray for DVL-909?
that's great as I have 2 replacement belts.
belts were never replaced on my DVL, player is from 1998 and still works great.
I guess don't touch anything while it still works is a great rule to follow.

I'm looking right now a replacement belt for the disc tray. The original one started to fail.

Is the VEB1184 the correct tray belt for the CLD-R7G?

I can't find the CLD-R7G service manual (only the owner's manual) and there's no info about it anywhere.
