I won a CLD-D505 off an auction (it's going to be a long time before I can ship my Japanese players and I gave the CLD-D501 to a friend after I couldn't get it to play a disc, so I don't have a LD player temporarily) and it's in good condition...except for the fact that the Pioneer badge is completely missing. Is there anywhere I can get a replacement badge? I don't really want to buy a Pioneer cassette deck or CD changer from a thrift store just to steal the badge off of it.

[CLD-D505] Error E0Yeah, the listing mentioned something about it not powering on and I wonder if it's an actual power problem or that error E0 from a bad M-Holder. I guess I'll know when I receive it.

Let me guess, bad capacitors? I dunno what it is but there was just an epidemic of bad capacitors in the 90s, Macintosh computers of the time had surface-mount ones that leaked like crazy and those Elna through-hole caps used in all kinds of stuff also seem to be infamous for leaking.

The only caps I have seen with visible problems in Pioneer units have been the Elna supercapacitors on the main boards of the CLD-3090 to CLD-D702 chassis. I'm not sure if all of those models are affected though. I've replaced a few and didn't document which ones.

cplusplus wrote: M-Holder will be on the "carriage assembly" (laser) with a motor attached to it. Probably grey plastic on this model. Hard to tell if they are broken without attempting to operate the unit, since it is the gear-holding pins on the inside that break.
You need to manually eject the tray by turning the pulley the loading belt is attached to. If the fuse is blown in the power supply, clip out the arc suppressor. Probably looks like a large diode with a yellow band (possibly D6 if like the CLD-D604). If the glass fuse is not blown, check the non-glass fuses (prefixed with F on the board) for continuity but it is probably a small cap that has gone bad on the primary side if there is no standby light. Just replace all electrolytics in the power supply in that case. Yeah, I ended up getting the disc out by using the pulley. The glass fuse in the power supply is extremely blown, as seen here: I have a part labeled "D105" that looks like a large diode with a yellow band and it's stamped "5N", though there seems to be at least one digit not visible. Removing that and replacing the fuse will get me power again?

I can’t believe you even noticed the badge was missing with that goofy in store demo badge huge as can be on the front. Nope! I actually like cheesy old stickers like that. My old Windows 95/98 computers still have their stickers too.

I just repaired this model. M-Holder completely destroyed and got all mangled up in the "FFC style spring VBH1270" that holds the ribbon cable. It would have been an easy (but tedious) fix but I had to pull out the entire servo mechanism to reseat it. Some how the unit is still perfectly adjusted with no crosstalk .

Now I just need that missing badge... How much are you willing to pay I'll take it off my player and sell it to you whenever you're ready
