I sometimes experience horizontal color streaking as described here: http://www.blam1.com/laserdisc/FAQ/FAQ_Hardware.htm#ComplaintsDefectsNoiseStr I should also mention that it's present on several discs I play. Is this something that could be fixed/reduced by adjusting something? Depending on the player and disc this could be normal. What are you using the view the movie? Obviously you’ve captured it somehow but what does it look like on your TV? |

Do you see the same streaking on both PAL and NTSC? |

It's present on NTSC discs. I didn't notice it on a PAL disc but can't say for sure since I only have one PAL disc. |

With streaking that severe it seems something has either failed on the board or an electrical adjustment needs to be made. NTSC and PAL adjustments are separate, so that is why I asked about PAL. |

Thats just the AC-3 RF addendum. You would need to find RRV1356. |

Any suggestions? So far I've tried both outputs (SCART and video out) and checked playback of sides A and B with the same side of the disc. Can a dirty laser lens cause this type of video noise? |

If PAL looks good and NTSC does not, I'd verify NTSC adjustments listed in SM. |

I lack both scope and test disc. Would I be just asking for trouble if I tried to do adjustments without them? |

Yes I'm afraid so. I think you would need a frequency counter as well. Issue could also be due to something failing on the boards- I'm not sure. |
