I gave a V-2400 to my boss earlier this year and it started having playing issues. Upon investigating, I found that the track that guides the laser back and forth (looks like a comb) had a split in it. I super-glued it back together and reinforced it with Bondic, and it worked fine until last night. Now, apparently the disc stops playing and returns to the start. I'm wondering if anyone knows where to get replacement parts like that track. I suspect the plastic has weakened and turned brittle, although I will learn more when I open it up to investigate again. Also, I have a CLD-1010 that has other playing issues and I want someone to repair it. I live in Tucson, and everyone I have called about repair work says "Oh, we don't repair those." Does anyone know a person who repairs laserdisc players in Tucson? Thanks in advance. |

You need epoxy for repairs on those gears and tracks, crazy glue just won't hold. Only one on here anymore but due to no parts we are pretty much SOL so you need to read up and figure out what may be wrong. Others will chime in to help. Good luck, had a 1010 once and it was a nice player. |

If you are talking about the white piece of plastic that the pickup moves along, that cracks all the time. It rarely is an issue, and I have found gluing it makes it worse. andrewgage wrote: Also, I have a CLD-1010 that has other playing issues and I want someone to repair it. Make a separate post here and maybe one of us can help. No shop is capable of full laserdisc service without having a GGV disc, so if you find a place ask to see their disc when you drop it off. |

Cplusplus, the reason I found the crack in the first place was because any movie I put in there would stop in one place and re-start a few seconds back, over and over again. If it didn't do that I would never have known about the issue. So I opened it up and examined what was going on and found that there was a crack just big enough to stop the forward movement of the laser. That's why I tried to glue it together again. And as I said, that held for a while, but the problem is back only worse. I'll give epoxy a try and see if that helps. It's not like I can make it much worse unless the track breaks off completely. Rein-O, the issue with the 1010 is that it starts displaying a herringbone pattern on the screen which then evolves into skipping, and then a complete loss of picture quality and sound, and it skips to the end of the disc. I thought it might be a lubrication issue so I cleaned out the old, somewhat sticky grease and put some new white lithium on the tracks. After doing that, one disc played well on side 1 and then on side 2 it started with the herringboning business again - at which point I stopped playing it. Chuck at Discount Laser said he thought it might be a power supply issue. I suppose it could be, though I am not enough of an electronics whiz to understand how that could be. |

Sounds like it could need adjustments OR your discs is warped. How many discs do you have and does this only do this to the one disc??? Lets make sure its not the disc before we start hacking into the player. C++ Knows more about repairs than I do and there are a few others. Good luck. |

Check a known good disc first. After that, it could be focus servo. |

The 1010 does it with all discs. I have more than 50 discs at this point. And I have played them on the one that belongs to my boss (the V2400) and they played perfectly until the plastic track broke. So the 1010 machine is the problem. |
