Hi,

I have an issue with my CLD-D515. When pressing the power button the players starts up.

As soon as the button is released the player powers off abruptly.

I am trying to work out if the switch mechanism connect to some sort of solenoid activated switch.

Any guidance would be appreciated.

I had a similar issue on a Pioneer Power Amp and it meant the power bloc is damaged and needs fixing/replacement.

It might go into self-protection mode.

Have you checked the fuses?

Check that there isn't a mechanical issue with the button first. I had something similar happen with a CLD-V2600 I think. Plastic had broken on inside of button. I pulled the faceplate so I could toggle the button on the board directly and there was no problem.

Apologies for such a late response. I did manage to fix this.

The issue was with the switch on the PSU PCB. The power button on the faceplate is connected by a long metal pushrod which activates the switch on the PCB.

This is a latch type switch that is commom for very many old TV/Video units.

There was a small piece of plastic that had broken inside the switch.

I got a very similar switch and change the internal broken part. The switch now latches when pressed in and then releases on the second press.
