Post subject:  [CLD-D503] Plays CD's but not laserdiscs

I hope somebody can help me here. I have a D503 player in good shape. It powers up ok and plays cd's with no issues. However, whenever I load a laserdisc it loads and recognizes it as a laserdisc but... When I hit play it spins up very briefly and then goes straight into standby mode. When I hit the change side button it completes the gamma turn and spins up briefly (but a bit more than last time) and the display dims very briefly and then goes straight to standby mode again.
I am running it on a 240 to 115v transformer & this unit needs 120v. Could this be the issue? Or is it a bad motor that can spin up a cd but not a laserdisc?

Anyway... Help!

Although, I am running the unit of a 50w power supply and it needs 40w. I think it might be drawing too much power from the supply and switching off as a result in laserdisc mode. I need to get a beefier power supply and test again.

Make sure clamp or the supports it is attached to aren't bent down. The cross supports bend easily. Does it display an error code on front display before returning to standby?

Hi there,

No error code is displayed & the clamp seems fine. Although the loading belt now seems to be slipping as it wont complete a disc load up...
