So I bought a CLD-1800 on eBay hoping to get a working PAL player so I can dub a rare disc I bought. Over my head, I know. I get the thing, and I buy a step-up converter so I can properly plug it in. But it's refusing to move off of standby mode. When I press the power button, the standby light basically blinks once, but it doesn't properly turn on. I kind of figured I would have issues doing this, but I can't shake the feeling that I'm just doing something wrong here? |

What rare PAL only disc are you trying to transfer??? Anyway got confused as I thought you were in the UK but see you are in the states. Only think I can say or ask is are you sure the converter is correct 110-220 or do you have any selector switch to the correct setting? If you could post your power supply or at least which model so someone can see specs that you are doing it right. |

Could be an issue with what ever you are using to step up or the power supply inside the player. What I did for my PAL unit is swap in a US power supply so I could just plug it directly in. CLD-S201 power supply might be a match, but you'd need to verify. I think I have a spare one I could sell. |
