I recently bought an HLD-X9 and I use an IR repeater as I don't have direct line of site to the unit. Does anybody know where the IR receiver sensor is on the front plate? I presume it's behind the dark plastic display but I can't see into it to see whether it's on the left, middle or right side? Anybody know exactly where I should place the repeater transmitter on the unit?

As far as I’m aware I think it’s located within the bottom left corner of the display window.

Edit: I think central left would be more accurate!

I think it's there as well. I just wanted a 2nd opinion before I apply the little sticky transmitter. Thanks.

Just looked at the X9 user manual online and it appears to confirm this.

Didn't even think of looking at the manual as it's all in Japanese. Thanks.

Not sure if this is an option for you....

If you have a Pioneer AV Receiver and it's out in the open, you can use the SR Control feature to control the LD player from it. If you don't, see if any other devices you have that are left out in the open have a similar control interface (I say that because I did discover years ago that Mitsubishi AV Network actually talks to Pioneer SR Control).

If none of that works, then back to using an IR repeater.

Receiver is an Onkyo so no, that won't be an option. But the IR repeater worked great on my prior CLD-97 so it should be fine. I just wanted to make sure I'm not missing the IR sensor location.

Use a Xantech 794 interface to use the Pioneer SR control connection in the back for much cleaner look. These have been long discontinued but they can be found cheap on eBay. I have been using these on all my older Pioneer gear for over 10 years. They are very reliable.

I put the IR repeater on the left side of the plastic display and it seemed to work perfect. So problem solved and I don't have to rewire the setup which is nice.

BTW- How are you doing? I see you moved to CA and got away from the New England weather!

I am doing well. How are you doing? I moved to southern LA about 3 years ago. I really like the weather here.

I'm also doing well, thank you. So far the fall has been very mild but it's definitely cooling down. I'm sure the weather in Southern CA is an absolute joy, especially when the alternative here in New England is shoveling snow! Happy to hear things are going well, best wishes.
