I finally got everything for a MUSE test setup but the player does not "cooperate". I have a Pioneer HLD-V700. When inserting a MUSE disc, it spins up and then throws an E-04 error. The rotation speed seems to vary several times before the error occurs. I retried it several times and also got several E-03 messages. In that case the spindown takes forever. I also saw E-05 and E-07 once or twice. With E-05 spindown also takes forever. I also tried a regular NTSC disc (yes, I know it can't be played on that player) and so far "only" got E-03 and E-04. The laser seems OK, i see red light and it seems to move correctly. I have absolutely no clue where to start. Any hints? From the error code list it should have something to do with the slider but movement seems ok. I also had a quick look at the capacitors and couldn't find any leaking ones. Will do a more detailed check later. |

E03 or E04 usually happen when the tilt gears are broken. You won't be able to see them without completely disassembling the laser carriage. |
