My X0 has trouble ejecting the tray, and if I load a disc, it give an L3 error. Which according to here: http://igelect.co.uk/perrcds.html means a loading error which makes sense. I've dismantled the beast, the tray will go in and then the whole tray assembly lowers down, but an intermittent motor sound occurs (burr, burr, burr) and the spindle doesn't fire up. The spindle and laser assembly freely moves by hand. Any help appreciated... -Pete |

Well, I disassembled the tray and re-greased everything, and it has solved that problem. The tray opens and closes and the disc begins to spin when you press play, but then gives a U1 error. This is "Miss Clamp" The clamp is on as far as I can tell. Is there a sensor somewhere that might not be working? |

Now getting E3 and P5 errors as well. It looks as if the laser is actually hitting the disc once it starts to spin up. |

It is hitting the disc. I'm trying to work out how to adjust the assembly. It is a complex beast. |

I'll be taking photos and posting as much info as I can. There is little around on X0 repairs, and for those of us on the wrong continent, having no repair places available, anything helps! |

Well, I have fixed the tilted laser on the X0. It now spins up and plays a disc. Trouble is, it barely displays a picture, in black and white and very garbled. Would alignment cause that? Is there a service manual available for the Pioneer LD-S2? The laser assembly looks almost identical, so perhaps the alignment procedure is similar? |

Yes it need tune up! the laser is out of track, need to be adjusted on de bias pots, but a professional has to do that. |

No one on this continent can do it unfortunately. I have the tools to do this, I just need to find the service manual for the HLD-X0. |

Only ldservice or Kurtis can, I repair most all others,etc, but never owned a lds2,xo and its the most difficult player to get aligned,etc has the whole clamper and servo has to stand outside of the player with a spare top clamper.. So your saying you have all the pioneer test discs and Jig stands and special one of a kind drivers to adjust it? I have the lds2 manual but the adj section is on microfiche and my reader broke about 7 months ago. Still I send all s2, xo repairs to ldservice, because you can screw it up and ruin the laser very easily, and none are available. XO parts are available between $500 to 1000 for laser and spindle plus adjustments. There is a reason I haven't really sat my priorities on fixing those.... Ldservice is your #1 best bet, because he can source parts and advance technical cures. |

I have made the jig stands and yes I have the pioneer test discs. The adjustment section of your S2 manual is on microfiche? How strange! It looks like mine is complete and all paper. |

OK my question is before the tray issue, DID YOUR XO WORK AND PLAY JUST FINE BEFORE ? I guess I just need some history on your xo as it seems strange your having all these problems over a tray issue and you said you fixed the tray. You sure you didn't get any grease on the tilt sensor or laser optics? Or touched anything else? Im just trying to be helpful and keeping it simple. |

The player was shipped to me, the damage happened in transit. The tray would not open, and the laser assembly had been 'bumped' and was sitting at an angle. I had to remove the tray assembly and replace it again. Loosening one of the laser assembly screws allowed the laser to drop back into place again and I could then re-tighten the screw again. The laser now 'looks' square and aligned to the assembly, and I get a very, very bad broken up picture, so the next step is to mechanically align the system a little better. There is no grease on the assembly or rails or laser itself. |

i hope the seller is going to work something out with you on a refund or taking care of part repairs. that happend with me, i received a player broken in the mail and the seller paid for half of the repairs. |
