Hi all, I've just received an HLD-X9 but unfortunately whoever packed it ended up wedging the remote control between the box and the disc tray. This ended up forcing the disc tray into the unit and snapping the end of the runner section of the disc tray. I think I'll be able to fix it if only I can source a new disc tray. Anyone know where to source one? I know Pioneer Japan is perhaps my best bet but without living in Japan and speaking Japanese then this is nearly impossible to arrange. I live in the UK so if anyone knows of a repair centre which may be able to help then that would be much appreciated. Failing that any contacts in Japan or even the US which may be able to help? Thanks in advance. |

i would get a refund right away on that, too expensive to be paying for a broken player like that. you may have to end up fixing it with epoxy and plastic, then dremel it so shape. that's if you can't find a part. ________________________________ the rein-o official signature:

Thanks for the replies. Will contact Nicolas. Does anyone have the service manual for this or know if its available online anywhere? I've been googling but can't seem to find one. |

Associates on 01865 361660 Since Babber are in London I spoke to them, I think I was quoted £50 regardless of the fault, but I may be remembering it wrong since I decided to sell the player and buy another instead. Do they still offer repairs on LD players now because last I had heard they only did work on the last European machines made DVL-909/919 machines? I hope I'm wrong as I've a few machines I'd like to get repaired if I cannot fix them myself. |

The trays have not been available thru the US Pioneer Parts website for over a year. A picture would be good to see exactly what is broke. If you are talking about the tab at the very back then it is not necessary. What breaks this is a hard drop during shipment. Nothing to do with the tray being pushed in. |

I also found some small plastic gear teeth about 3mm square which had broken off from somewhere inside. Thanks for those repair centre contacts. Will ask them for help. Does anyone know how to go about sending a player to Pioneer in Japan? |

So I've managed to look at the service manual and noticed the whole loading assembly is the same as the CLD-99 and I assume CLD-704. I've attached the page form the HLD-X9 service manual. Now I don't want to butcher my CLD-99 for parts but does anyone know of models with the same gears, parts and assembly as the X9? I'm mostly interested if a japanese CLD-R5 will have the same assembly. Any other models that would have the same assembly would be very useful information also. I am filing a claim but that could take a while. Would prefer to fix it myself. Kurtis, I believe you have experience servicing many different players so would most likely know which models would most likely have the same loading mechanism? Would be really useful if I could fix this myself with spares from an old, cheaper machine. Again, thanks for all the responses. |

Yes, I have seen this once before. If you can find the piece in the player take a soldering iron or other hot iron, place the piece in position and on the back side smear across the crack melting the plastic but the inside or front side needs to stay smooth. I've had this work Otherwise the US Models CLD-D503/703/704/79/99 trays will work but they are black in color. I have extra's I could sell you but the shipping may be too expensive. Otherwise the Japanese S9 and I believe the CLD-D99 have the same color tray as yours. You have to swap the front of your tray onto the replacement. Even the Pioneer $80 new tray does not come with the front face. The X9 tray is Pioneer part number VXA2311 |

Isn't this the same drawer like a DVL-909E or dvl-919E? the loading assembly look very fimiliar! If it's the same I have a champagne colored drawer available! |

The problem is that if you want to match the color and only having positions for 12 and 8" LDs the X9 and S9 are the only units with the same tray. The others I mentioned all have positions to place 3 and 5" cds in them which would have to be ignored when using. |
