Theres an PIONEER HLD-X9 HI-VISION LG on ebay for auction. The seller described it as defective and as follows:
"The unit worked fine until 2 months ago, when I removed it from my Hi-Fi Shelf. After I did this I tried to put it back in Operation at another place, but suddenly, now it stays on for about 2 seconds and then it switches off.The Disc Drawer still moves in an out again if the button is pressed immediately after the unit is switched on. Also the Display is lightening up, but then it switches off after a few second."
Does anyone know if it´s worth to bid on this machine and is there a way to repair it ? Myself, I surely can´t do that, but maybe it´s a known error? I would appreciate any help, as the machine is not far from my home.

Have not seen that issue in the x9 so this may be a unique issue. Wondering about a power supply issue.

I have no idea how complicated it would be to fix the player but if I could get it for about €150 or less then I'd take the risk.

You can part it out and get your money back if you get it for $200-250. You can sell the remote, tray, if cosmetics are good front face, laser, motor each easliy $40-50.

Does someone know, if Pioneer Europe are able to repair a japanese unit? I know, it´s a little bit silly to ask, but maybe someone already tried their service with an US model? It´s so sad that the unit is in need of repair, I´m really not sure what to do..

Take it and get it fixed by Claude Röthlisberger in SACOM AG in Biel, Switzerland. He fixed similar X9 issue of mine and other issues on other LD players. You can find the address of SACOM AG on Internet. It's official Pioneer repair center for Switzerland. Röthlisberger repairs LD players for the last 20 years, so he's very experienced.

+1

Claude repaired my two non working CLD-A100 players (Laseractive).
They are both 110V, and were never sold in Switzerland, so Claude had never saw one before.
But he had no problem repairing them...

If I get any issues with my X9, I'll go see Claude.
But it's easy for me to say, I live 20 minutes away from SACOM :P

In order to find things from some countries now you have to go on that particular countries ebay site. (like ebay Germany, ebay USA etc.) Just searching worldwide now doesn't always show you everything. Something to remember when searching for LD's

thx fpr the reply guys and the info about Mr.Röthlisberger . The town Brügg is 350km away from me...so it´s possible to deliver it in person, since I wouldn´t send it through mail.Well, first I had to get it.
@seroxx 6 Takou: What could be the estimated price for a repair ??

best bet would be to contact him directly to find out.

also you could have it sent directly to him for repair and when its done pick it up in person.

good luck with it.

It costed me under CHF 200 for the repairs on my CLD-A100.
But it was more a mechanical problem (tray wouldn't open, etc.)

Careful, it's not Town of Brugg, Aargau but a suburbian Brügg, part of town of Biel. Depending on spent time, it may cost 200-300 swiss francs. And it's better to bring and take it away personally, says Claude. He wouldn't trust the postal service too much. Also, you might wait 1 - 3 months to get it back but you will and it will very probably work like new. If not, Claude will explain why, and if you don't speak french, there will be someone in SACOM who can translate. When applying, bring a piece of paper with all problems you noticed, typed, german or french. Good luck

Thx for your help guys, but the player went for 477.-€, thats not what I was willing to pay (would anyone of you spend this amount ?), even it could have been repaired. I also talked to pioneer Service Germany, and they didn´t sounded too hopeful. So I would have taken my chances with Claude. Anyway, it´s good to know that specialists are still around here :-)

Yes I can't imagine it being economic or even practical for anyone to purchase at that sort of price outside the country it was being sold.
It would cost at least £100 (perhaps far more) to ship to UK and what use would it be without shipping somewhere else to fix since I doubt it can be repaired anywhere in the UK.
I already have a mint working HLD-X9 so I guess the only purpose of this unit would be for spare parts but since some of those parts are defective it is an expensive machine to cannibalize.

You`re so right. And I didn´t have any idea how to (what a word,haha...) cannibalize htis beauty. I´d really feel bad to do it. It would be interesting how the winner of the auction is handling the repair. By now I´m wondering how many machines (X9) are still around and working.

I almost got it but I dropped off at 420 EUR, shipping to sweden was 42 EUR. I have a working X9 with almost the same serial number that I have taken a part and put together again countless of times... just curious what the problem was and if not possible to repair plenty of parts for the future.
