Anyone have any info on the P5 error displayed on the HLD-X9.
Any repair suggestions?

Is the error on all discs or just Muse discs? I had an X9 popping a P5 error on Muse discs only and it turned out to be the Syps board was at fault.

Mine was specific to Muse discs and it turned out the system power supply board was at fault. Your best bet is to ask Kurtis who can hopefully point you in the right direction. I think P5 is a spindle error? Kurtis will know more

Either spindle motor is not spinning up fast enough, this would either be the power supply or spindle motor, or the laser is bad either the laser itself or the logic on the top right board not properly driving the laser.

Maybe the test mode could bring more clarity, have a look at the service manual, P5 is indeed spindle speed can not be reached in 60 seconds, action is to open top to see what happens according manual...

Kris, two other points :
Is your power converter strong enough? I know spindle motor consumes a lot, if your down converter is weak it can not deliver, have experienced this myself with a US player.

Did you try a 20 cm disc, the spindle motor requires less power than for a 30 cm disc.
