Some people already knows my player died last week. I sended it to pioneer. They said that laser power is down. Then they can't do anything. I decided to keep my player, and buy a new pick up when I will have money (maybe next year). I am just a little bit curious, because my player doesn't display any error number. The LD just don't play. No special sound or anything. I know Pioneer is professionnal, but my irrational way of thinking thought of other scenarios... like, they could have too much work with most recent machine, then maybe they didn't check that much. Just it doesn't read the disc then it should be the pick up . If I decide to buy a new pick up (it's expensive ! ) I should maybe more sure about the problem... Anyone can give me any advice ? Or should I have 100% trust to Pioneer repair center ?

I can do easy solder, between 2 cables, or assembly PC parts... But that's all. Without any tutorial, that's hard, isn't it ? Did you try messaging that guy for details? I doubt you need any soldering. Even if you do, it shouldn't be too hard. At this point you can't make it any worse anyway. I would give my best and try swapping diodes. The entire pick up is very expensive that is if you can find one.

ok, what I will do is : - contact the guy for details. - gather informations - take some electronic base lesson during 6 months (I need more skills, for other projects also) - gather money during 6 month, then I can buy a new pick up if I fail. - I will try to post about all my process and try to share what I will learn about repairing HLD-X0 If you have some other advice, it would be good to share also !
