Having an issue where when ever the unit switches from LD to DVD laser, it wont go back to LD.
The issue appears to be with the servo mechanism section, and somehow just the DVD carriage side being out of alignment.
It wont make the transition from rail side (where the disc is), back into the rotating mechanism (sort of seems like 17 Turn Plate Assy VXA2290 is not aligned properly or something).
it will just grind... if i push up on the plastic on the under side it will retract, and rotate.

I also noticed if i leave the SHIPPING CAM VNL1729 off so that the SHIPPING LEVER VNL1728 engages (when it shouldn't - then it will slide back into the cage just fine....
(but.... then the laser for LD wont flip from A>B).

Has anyone run into this - Is there a way to adjust this?

Many times this is an issue with the guide pin in the turn mechanism not properly aligned with the metal rail the pickup moves front and back on. It is possible the DVD laser needs some lubrication. I also once ran into a unit where pins of the Mholder that the small gears on the laser are mounted on break and the gears float and do not properly engage to move the laser into the turn mechanism. Though I only saw this once as the DVL units have the improved MHolder.

I tried a light weight oil on the dvd laser (BTW what is the proper thing to use to lube things up?), and i think the gears are ok, but i could take them apart and check closer.

It seem like the guide pin in the turn mechanism is out of alignment to me - but im not seeing a way to adjust that - any recommendations on how that can be done?
