I picked up a used dvl-700. One of the lasers is on the main track for when it is being used (playing a disc). The other laser is in the swap carriage or whatever you call the plastic cage thing the lasers rest in and spin around in. The carriage is slightly canted and won’t lock in place. Is this a common issue? I’ve tried to manually turn the gears from the motor that spins the carriage, but there is hardly any movement. It’s like something mechanical is “off track” or simply broken. Can I remove the metal plate over the gears without causing seriously issues? Is there a video or diagram out there that explains how this thing moves and what might be wrong with it? Thanks!

I've seen this jam if the 'stored' pickup has come out of the parking space. See if you can rotate the slider motor and back the assembly into the carriage. You may have to be creative if the pickup is actually jammed out of place. Nothing really holds the pickup in the carriage except for the motor and the tracking gear. If the m-holder is broken the pickup may be loose in the carriage.
