| Post subject: | Stumped so far by peculiar DVL 909 issue... [Solved] |
Trying to pinpoint problems with a DVL 909, and have been stumped so far. The player powers on and off, but very slowly, a minute or so before any display, and a minute or more to power off while flashing OFF. Other symptoms are: Displsy goes right off to STOP, press LD open, and display goes to CLOSE, then back to STOP afer a minute. No response from motor assembly at all, so I opened the player... One laser assembly was right at the spindle when I opened it up, not at the normal position within the A to B turn housing when player is powered off. The laser can be moved by hand turning the assembly motor to any position on the track, but it does not respond to power on or off. The laser tracks are in the up position as if to play a disc. I manually lowered the tracks by turning the tray belt pully with machine off, then continued to turn it so the tray would open. When powered on, the tray retracted and laser track assembly moved back to up position and display still stated CLOSE, then STOP. Powered off, the track stayed put and the laser itself never moved an inch at all. Then I removed the tray, and powered the player. When pressing open, the tray load motor spun normally without the tray, which is to say it spun for a long time until finally just stopping. When pressing close, same thing but in reverse of course. That's normal operation for the motor without a tray inserted. But when the tray was returned, same old problems as described above. Manually loading an LD did nothing. I'm suspecting some sort of problem with the laser assembly, of such a nature that it effects both the tray motor and the spndle motor. Main fuse is okay. Are there other fuses that effect the laser assembly that need chacking? Or maybe some other defective part? |
