Halfway through my day the replacement parts for the player arrived! The shipping lever was quite tricky to replace but it's in there now along with the cam plate and everything works like a charm! One small problem however is that the door of the CD/DVD tray doesn't close, I thought this would perhaps be controlled by the gears as there is a cog on the door but apparently not. It's probably just a missing spring. I'll consult the manual again and see if it sheds some light, either way if I just need to flip the door closed when I use the CD/DVD tray then I'm not going to loose any sleep over it. Thanks to everyone that helped, especially krbahr for getting me the parts as well as benmbe and rixrex for your advice on remotes and shops. I hope this thread will be of help to anyone else with similar problems with this player. |

Good day hippiedalek, Your welcome and truly well done to you for repairing your player this far. Mr krbahr's reputation of being a very helpful and genuine man has always peseeded him on sites that he is, or has been a member on over the years. I was helped by a laserdisc enthusiast, a stranger in the US who purchased a service manual for the HLD X9 LD player, as I was unable to get hold of this from the UK. I sent somthing extra for his trust in myself and for his time, even though he expressed to me that it was'nt neccessary. There are many good and helpful people out there of which is appreciated by others who have the very same attitude. Yes' this will help others, and I for one have appreciated what you have shared with this site. Kind Regards |

The separate CD/DVD tray is controlled by the tab located about across from the motor that slides in when in LD mode and out for CD/DVD mode. What it does is push the two white tabs sticking down on the bottom side of the tray to unlock the CD/DVD section from the larger LD section. One or both of these may have broke when removing the tray. |

Like I said I'm not going to loose any sleep over it. Thanks again! |

I think that door is closed by a small spring, which may be missing. |

Yes, there should be a spring on one of the hinges to close the CD/DVD door |

Flip the tray over and you should see it on the inside part of the front right on the hinge |

Hi There, I have the same issue with my " Pioneer DVL 919E . The draw still opens , but it will become worse , funny thing is the ' DVD draw works . I have been searching for mechanical schemata or diagrams . The sad thing in " Australia , Melbourne most techs do not want to know on servicing " Pioneer Laserdiscs" ,or other brands . I look at my LD Collection , which is considerable most of the are " Criterion " Special Edition of the classics. So will have to do it myself . There have to mechanical drawings so if anyone know where I can download them. |

Hi ntesla. Although this is for the DVL 919 rather than the 919E I found this service manual very helpful in fixing my player: http://www.laserdiscplaza.fr/notices/Pi ... VL-919.pdf I mainly solved my problem by opening the player up and watching how things moved (or didn't). Once I'd narrowed to a certain area I compared those components to the service manual to see if could spot anything wrong. Good luck getting your player up and running. If you need any help feel free to upload some pics or start your own topic (or I could remove the "(solved)" from this topic's title) and I, and everyone else, will be happy to help. |

True this issue only affects the ld tray opening distance. You won't find anything in the service manual. You can use that for the part number to order a replacement. If just live with it, it's just a little harder to put the LD in and remove. |
